ASHLAND, Va. -The Shenandoah University women's basketball team fell 71-59 at Randolph-Macon College in an ODAC contest on Tuesday night.
Shenandoah (10-12, 6-9 ODAC) shot 58 percent from the field (25-for-41) and had a 33-28 advantage on the glass, but turned over the ball 33 times and the 'Jackets (15-7, 10-5) took advantage by scoring 31 points off of the Hornets miscues.
R-MC had 21 steals on those 31 turnovers.
THE RUNDOWN
The first half was back-and-forth until the three-minute mark when Brianna Turner's jumpshot started a 7-0 for the Hornets. SU held that seven-point, 32-25, lead going into halftime.
After the break, the Yellow Jackets came back out with the hot hand outscoring SU 18-2 off of seven turnovers. Thanks to the run, R-MC took control of the game with a 43-36 lead. Kelsey Jones stopped the bleeding at the 3:36 mark and Shenandoah would go on to score nine straight points to tie the game up 43-43 with a minute to go in the third.
Unfortunately, Macon took the lead for good on a Charlotte Woods layup with 8:17 to play and benefitted from double digit Hornet turnovers and fouls to score 12 points from the line to seal the victory.

Shenandoah is on the road Saturday with a 2 p.m. contest at Hollins.
NOTABLE
Despite the loss, Shenandoah officially clinched a spot in the upcoming 10-team ODAC Tournament. SU holds at least four-game lead plus the tiebreakers over Hollins, Randolph and Ferrum with three games left in the regular season.
