WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Shepherd University won its first women's tennis match of the 2019 season with an 8-1 victory over host Shenandoah Saturday night.

IN BRIEF

Playing indoors at Winchester Country Club, the Rams (1-0) won three close doubles matches before clinching with wins at Nos. 2 and 3 singles.

Shenandoah (1-1) got its victory at No. 1 singles. Madison Hansen defeated Alisha Atkins 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (12-10).

SU is back in action next Saturday in an 11 a.m. ODAC match at Washington and Lee.
