SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Shenandoah University baseball team earned its sixth straight win Monday afternoon with a 5-1 non-league victory over Susquehanna University.
Shenandoah (25-11) scored three runs in the first inning without the benefit of a hit to post enough offense to down the River Hawks (17-15).
IN BRIEF
Three walks, a hit batsman and two wild pitches led to the three runs in the top of the first, which was more than enough for freshman Carson Kulina.
Kulina (5-0) went 8 2/3, allowing the two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four.
Senior Brandon McKenzie got the final out to post his second save of the year.
Robert Marcelle, who finished 2-for-3, manufactured a run in the third by reaching on an error, stealing second and moving to third on a throwing error by the Susquehanna catcher on the steal attempt.
One pitch later, Marcelle scampered home on a wild pitch.
Shenandoah got its final run in the fifth as Keegan Woolford hit a solo shot to right. The home run is his 10th of the year.
Marcelle, Woolford and Grant Thompson all had two hits in the win.
Sean Rodriguez took the loss for Susquehanna. Rodriguez (0-2) allowed four runs (three earned) on just two hits and four walks in 3.0 innings.

Shenandoah hosts Elizabethtown Tuesday night at 6 in a Senior Night contest. SU will honor 11 men prior to the game.
