Baseball Slays Lions

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Shenandoah University earned its fifth baseball win of the week with a 13-4 non-league victory over PSU-Harrisburg Sunday afternoon.

Shenandoah (15-8) exploded for four runs in the seventh and eight more in the eighth to pull away from the Lions (17-8-1).

IN BRIEF

Trailing 3-1 after PSU-H scored two runs in the third and one more in the sixth, SU took the lead for good with four runs on four hits in the seventh.

Robert Marcelle and Keegan Woolford had RBI singles with Luke Nussman driving in Woolford on a double to left.

The Hornets needed just four hits to put up the eight-spot in the eighth. Tristan Baker had the first RBI, getting hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded, before Woolford and Nussman followed with RBI singles up the middle and to center, respectively.

Grant Thompson capped the outburst with a three-run blast to right.

Freshman Matt House pitched the final 3 2/3 to earn his first collegiate victory. He allowed one run on four hits and one walk.

Woolford, Nussman and Frankie Ritter all had three hits each.

Brendan Riotto took the loss for the Lions, Riotto (0-3) gave up four runs (two earned) on four hits in 2/3 of an inning.

Shenandoah hosts ODAC arch-rival Bridgewater on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
