BALTIMORE – The Shenandoah University baseball team saw its season come to an end Saturday with a 7-3 loss to Johns Hopkins University in the game two of their best-of-three super regional series.

Hopkins (35-11) advances to the NCAA Division III College World Series in Cedar Rapids, Iowa by completing the two-game sweep over Shenandoah (35-15).

The Blue Jays erased a 2-1 deficit with four runs on two hits and three walks in the fourth versus Hornets pitchers Reeves Lowry and Matt Barnes.

JHU scored two of the four runs on a pair of bases loaded walks, the first off of Lowry (which ended his day) and the second off of Barnes.

Mike Eberle then drove in what proved to be the game-winning run with an infield single that bounced off of Luke Nussman's glove between first and second base.

Shenandoah had taken the 2-1 lead when freshman Frankie Ritter with a two-run shot over fence in left center in the bottom of the third. Henry Delavergne, who was hit by pitch with one out, scored ahead of Ritter.

The home run is the first of Ritter's career and he ended the day with two of the Hornets six hits.

Keegan Woolford had an RBI single in the fifth to cut the deficit to 5-3.

Hopkins scored two runs in the eighth to provide the final margin of victory.

Lowry (4-5) allowed five runs on four hits and two walks in 3.0 innings.

Preston Betz (4-2) was the winner for Hopkins. He allowed one hit in 4 2/3 innings of relief work.

UP NEXT

Shenandoah ends the year in the NCAA Tournament for the sixth consecutive season. The 2020 schedule will be announced this summer.
