FREDERICK, Md. – The Shenandoah University field hockey team scored early and often Wednesday in a 7-0 non-league victory at Hood College.
Shenandoah (3-1) scored just 75 seconds in and had a 3-0 lead over the Blazers (0-6) before the game was barely six minutes old.
IN BRIEF
Taylor Hayes led the onslaught with three goals, including the game-winner off of a
Megan Stevens assist, and
Kelsey Jones added a goal and two assists.
Stevens scored thanks to a Jones feed at 2:30 before
Colleen Schneider set up Hayes at 6:05 to give the Hornets the commanding lead.
Jones scored unassisted at 13:59 and Hayes then completed her hat trick at 23:17.
Sarah Stillabower had the assist on Hayes' third goal of the afternoon.
Hayes first tally came 75 seconds into the contest.
Jessica Donovan, off a Jones assist, scored just 22 seconds after Hayes completed her hat trick.
Amanda Hensen closed the book on the day's scoring with an unassisted goal 8:04 into the second half.
SU held Hood without a shot or a penalty corner.

"The team did a great job today of rebounding from our loss this past weekend," head coach
Ashley Smeltzer-Kraft said. "Every person on the team contributed and fought hard for 60 minutes."
