Yergin Breaks Record in Win

Squad Tops Goucher, 3-1

TOWSON, Md. – Senior Emily Yergin became the all-time leading goal scorer in Shenandoah University women's soccer history with her unassisted goal in a 3-1 non-league win at Goucher College Wednesday evening.

In a game delayed by one hour, the Hornets (4-2) scored the first three goals of the game to dispatch the Gophers (3-2).

IN BRIEF

Yergin's from Maiya Pencile, in the 61st minute, was the middle goal in the three-goal run. The goal is the 52nd of her career and breaks the record co-held by Yergin, Brandy (Wheeler) Hudson '95 and Jen (Johnson) Boyer '95.

Yergin tied the mark in the second game of the season, a 6-1 win at Meredith on September 1.

She now has 128 career points and is four points from tying Hudson in that category. Yergin's next point will tie her with Boyer for second place all-time on the points list.

Jocelyn Granados had the opening goal, in the 12th minute, with Yergin setting up Bella Infuso in the 65th minute to give SU a 3-0 lead.

Alison Spaziani set up Granados for the opening goal.
