Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – Visiting Shenandoah University struggled from the attack line Wednesday in a 3-0 non-league loss at Catholic University of America.

Shenandoah (4-11) fell at 16, 17 and 22 to the Cardinals (10-6) as SU hit just .037 (24-20—107) for the match.

IN BRIEF

CUA, in contrast, hit .259 (42-14—108) including a match-high .312 (15-5—32) in the third.

In the first, the Cardinals seized control with an 8-3 run midway through the set that turned an 8-8 deadlock into a 17-11 lead for the hosts.

Catholic closed out the set on a 4-2 and won it on a Hornets attack error.

The second was more of the same as the hosts scored 11 of the final 14 points of the set in a 25-17 triumph.

That closing run was an answer to a 6-3 Shenandoah run that tied the set at 14-14.

The Hornets battled CUA close in the third and trailed by just two, 23-21, following a Gabby Coradazzi service ace.

Unfortunately for SU, Catholic answered with a kill to put itself one point from victory and following an attack error, clinched the match on another kill.
