EMORY, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's basketball team fell 59-41 at Emory & Henry College Saturday evening in an ODAC contest.
With the score tied at the end of the half, the Wasps (11-1, 5-0 ODAC) pulled away from the Hornets (7-4, 4-1) in the third quarter, outscoring the visitors 23-5 out of the break.
THE RUNDOWN
1st Quarter
Both teams split 10 baskets, shooting 35.7% from the field (5-of-14 each). The difference in the first quarter was E&H making 6-of-8 free throws, owning the 16-10 advantage after one.
2nd Quarter
Shenandoah's defense held the Wasps to just six points in the second. Sierra St. Cyr and Olivia Weinel split eight points with Kelsey Jones and McKenzie Mathis adding two each to make the game tied 22-22 going into halftime.
3rd Quarter
Emory & Henry came out of the break with a strong offensive performance, shooting 46.7% (7-of-15) while Shenandoah struggled (1-of-11). Ragan Jonson and Sarah Sondrol was able to get the Hornets back on the board with a pair of free throws before Sarah Donley was able to put one in from the field, a three-pointer with 3:10 remaining.
4th Quarter
Shenandoah bounced back with 14 points in the fourth quarter, matching the hosts' output.
