Wasps Nip Men's Hoops

Season Ends with 88-84 Loss

EMORY, Va. – Shenandoah University saw its men's basketball season come to an end Saturday following an 88-84 ODAC loss at Emory & Henry.

Shenandoah (6-19, 3-13 ODAC) held a 10-point, 43-33, halftime lead, but saw the Wasps (7-18, 4-12) rally for the ODAC tournament-clinching victory.

IN BRIEF

With the two teams half of a four-way tie for the 10th and final spot in the ODAC Tournament, the winner of today's game would likely earn a spot in the tourney with a victory. Shenandoah controlled its own destiny while E&H need a win and help.

The Wasps did their part with the win and thanks to Virginia Wesleyan defeating Eastern Mennonite and Roanoke beating Randolph, they punched their ticket into the annual tournament.

Emory & Henry got the victory by outscoring Shenandoah 8-4 over the final 2:08 of the contest. With the game tied at 80-80 following a Malcolm Morgan 3-pointer at 3:35, E&H took the lead for good on an Anthony Williams jumper at 2:12.

Jalen Hill hit one of two for the Hornets 18 seconds later, but the Wasps hit all six of their free throws in the final 25 seconds to seal the win.

Zach Garrett cut the SU deficit to two points, 86-84, with a 3-pointer at the seven-second mark before Colin Molden was fouled with four seconds left and made both ends of a one-and-one to push the advantage back out to four points.

Shenandoah had five players score in double figures, led by Christopher Chaney's 20, while Williams had a game-high 27 for the hosts.

Williams was one of four E&H players to play at least 36 minutes.
