SALEM, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's basketball team saw its season come to an end Thursday afternoon with a 75-48 loss to fourth-seeded Randolph-Macon in the ODAC Tournament quarterfinals.

The Yellow Jackets (16-9) outscored fifth-seeded SU (16-10) by a combined 17 points in the second and third quarters to help earn their second win over the Hornets in 10 days.

Macon, seeking its 10
th ODAC championship, shot 45 percent to 28 percent for SU and had a 43-28 advantage on the glass.

This 15-rebound bulge led to the 'Jackets outscoring Shenandoah 34-20 in the paint and scoring all 11 of the game's second-chance points.

After seeing SU score the initial five points of the game on a Regan Johnson free throw, a Johnson jumper and finally a
Jordan Sondrol 10-footer, R-MC took control of the contest by scoring nine straight points and 13 of the final 17 points of the stanza.

The second quarter was especially tough for the Hornets as SU was just 2-of-9 (22 percent) from the field and turned the ball over eight times. Macon scored six points off of those eight turnovers.

R-MC basically sealed the contest in the third by shooting an unbelievable 73 percent (8-of-11) from the field. The 'Jackets extended the lead by an additional nine points and were able to coast home to the victory.

Melissa Smeltzer-Kraft said. "That doesn't take away from the season we had and what the seniors have done for this program. I am so proud of them."
