Volleyball Sweeps Quakers

Hornets Win for First Time at Home This Fall

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University volleyball team earned its second ODAC win of the season Saturday with a 3-0 sweep over Guilford.

Shenandoah (5-12, 2-5 ODAC) won at 23, 20, and 15 over the Quakers (4-11, 1-4) for its first home victory of the season.

IN BRIEF
Coach Kent Clayberg's club had a solid afternoon versus GC, hitting .262 on the afternoon (44 kills – 16 errors – 107 attempts) including a match-best .345 (12-2—29) in the deciding third set.

After an opening set in which the two teams were tied on three occasions in addition to one lead change, SU led throughout the second and third sets. A 7-0 run late in the first, giving Shenandoah 23-16 lead, put the Hornets on top to stay.

Junior Kate Poppo paced the victors with 17 kills and 11 digs with sophomore Jillian Warter adding 11 kills. Warter had the match-clinching kill.

Caitlyn Houck also had a double-double by matching Poppo in digs and adding 35 of the team's 41 assists.
