GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Shenandoah University men's basketball team completed its participation in the Purplestride Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Classic Sunday with a 71-62 loss to tournament host Gwynedd Mercy.
 
The Griffins (2-0) had a five-point, 26-21, halftime lead and then held on versus Shenandoah (0-2) to secure the victory.

A three-point play from Noah Adams cut the SU deficit to just five, 62-57, but GMC went 9-for-10 at the line over the final 44 seconds to hold off the Hornets.
 
The Griffins made their first eight attempts from the charity stripe during this stretch.
 
Trailing by 12, 60-48 with 4:54 remaining, Shenandoah got itself back into the ballgame with a 9-2 run.  Davion Roberts got the rally started with a 3-pointer Jaylen Williams hit 1-of-2 from the line and Matt Simmons 2-of-2. A Binwi Bihai block started the fastbreak that ended with Adams' layup and free throw.
 
Both teams shot 36 percent and SU owned the glass with a 40-31 bulge. The Hornets had 12 second chance points to just five for the Griffins.
 
Williams led all scorers with 20 points while Adams added 11.

Shenandoah travels to High Point, North Carolina for an 8 p.m. Tuesday night exhibition with the DI High Point Panthers.
