Hornets Dominate in 8-0 Win

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Shenandoah University field hockey team earned its third straight victory Friday with an 8-0 ODAC win at Virginia Wesleyan.
 
Shenandoah (3-1, 3-1 ODAC) scored on its first shot of the game and never looked back versus VWU (1-3, 1-3).

IN BRIEF

Lauren Tyre scored that initial goal, knocking it home from right in front of Marlins keeper Meme Dawson at the 4:25 mark of the first.
 
Just 17 seconds before the end of the first, Cassidy Morrison made it 2-0 with an unassisted tally.
 
Shenandoah's third goal came off a penalty corner at 27:01 with Abby Barefoot deflecting home a shot right on the doorstep. Hannah Mink and Farren Winter were credited with assists on the play.
 
Nine minutes into the second half, Morrison set up Lindsey Florio to put the visitors up, 4-0.
 
Kelsey Jones had two goals while Barefoot and Elizabeth Ranberger one each in a four-goal fourth.
 
Shenandoah took all 24 shots in the game and had 18 of the game's 19 penalty corners.

UP NEXT

The Hornets return home Tuesday night for a 7 p.m. ODAC matchup versus Eastern Mennonite.
