Captains Outlast Women's Lax

Hornets Drop 19-14 Non-league Decision

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Host Christopher Newport University scored the first nine goals of the game on its way to a 19-14 non-league women's lacrosse victory Saturday afternoon.
 
The Captains (4-2) held SU (1-3) off the board for the initial 15:12 of the contest in taking that nine-goal advantage.

IN BRIEF

Reilly Cisar snapped that string with an unassisted tally at 14:48.
 
From this point on, the Hornets outscored CNU 14-10, but could not climb all the way back.
 
Cisar and Emma Stiffler had four goals each for Coach Lindsey Lutz while Alyson Bittinger contributed three goals and Hayle Kyte two.
 
Madison Re had three assists, Cisar two and Stiffler one.
 
Ashley MacFarlane had four saves in 26:15 before Shannon Eissele played the final 33:45 and made nine stops.
 
CNU outshot the Hornets 39-33 and had an 18-9 advantage in groundballs. SU won 20 of the game's 34 draw controls.
