NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Host Christopher Newport University scored the first nine goals of the game on its way to a 19-14 non-league women's lacrosse victory Saturday afternoon.

The Captains (4-2) held SU (1-3) off the board for the initial 15:12 of the contest in taking that nine-goal advantage.

CNU outshot the Hornets 39-33 and had an 18-9 advantage in groundballs. SU won 20 of the game's 34 draw controls.
