BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Host Bridgewater College kept its softball record perfect on the 2021 season by sweeping an ODAC doubleheader from Shenandoah University Tuesday afternoon.

The Eagles (8-0, 6-0 ODAC) was a 6-1 winner in the opener before completing the sweep over SU (3-11, 0-6) with a 9-2 victory in the nightcap.
GAME ONE
Shenandoah led 1-0 thru four after scoring an unearned run in the second, but Bridgewater rallied for five runs on three hits and four walks in the fifth.

BayLee Jenkins scored the Hornets lone run by leading off the SU second with a single to left, moving into scoring position on
Meghan Stout's single to center and third when
Tiffany Bower reached on an error.

Kayla Stephenson plated Jenkins on a groundout.

Megan Scalley (1-6) went the first 4 1/3 and gave up four runs on two hits and three walks while striking out two.

Bower, Stephenson, and
Allie Schey joined Jenkins and Stout with hits.
GAME TWO
Leading 3-2 after SU scored a single run in the top of the fourth, Bridgewater expanded its lead with two runs in the bottom of the frame followed by three in the fifth and one more in the sixth on its way to the 9-2 win.

Jenkins had two of the Hornets five hits, scored a run and plated the squad's first run with a single to right in the first.

Stephenson, who started in the circle, had Shenandoah's other RBI on a sacrifice fly to center in the fourth.

Stephenson (2-4) took the loss after giving up five runs (four earned) on seven hits and one walk in 4.0 innings of work. She struck out two before turning it over to
Lacey Clopper to start the fifth.
