The Hornets (7-4, 3-5 ODAC) came out strong in the first quarter but the Maroons (9-3,5-2) pulled away in the second and third to advance to the next round.

THE RUNDOWN
1st Quarter
SU came out of the gate strong with a 12-2 run through the first five minutes. Madisen Kimble, who finished the night with 13 points, got the ball rolling with three buckets from behind the arc in the first quarter. The visitors ended the quarter with a 19-13 lead.

2nd Quarter
Unfortunately for the Shenandoah fans, Roanoke's defense held the Hornets to just five points and made a 14-0 run from the 5:00 to the 0:22 mark giving the pre-season favorite Maroons an 11 point lead going into halftime.

SU's offense bounced back after the break thanks to nine points from Olivia Weinel but trailed by 21 points heading into the final stanza.

4th Quarter
SU was able to cut the deficit back down to 14 points after a Maggie Rooklin '3' out-scored RC 20-15 in the quarter.

QUOTE FROM COACH
"We came out so strong in the first but we have to give Roanoke credit, they were better than us in the second and third quarters tonight. They have had our number each time we played this season but this young team has shown a lot of promise for the future and we have a lot to look forward to."
-Head Coach Melissa Smeltzer-Kraft
