Ferrum Tops Men's Hoops

Hornets Eliminated from ODAC Tournament with 73-60 Loss

FERRUM, Va. – Shenandoah University saw its men's basketball season come to an end Saturday with a 73-60 ODAC Tournament quarterfinal loss to Ferrum College.
 
The seventh-seeded Hornets (0-8) held a 32-30 lead at the break only to see No. 2 Ferrum (7-5) score 43 second half points to pull away.

IN BRIEF

Leading 44-42 following a Matthew Anderson layup with 12:52 remaining, SU saw the Panthers score nine straight points over the next 4:30 to take total control of the contest.
 
A Davion Roberts jumper at 8:57 finally snapped the string, but Shenandoah would get no closer than six points the rest of the way.
 
Ferrum scored eight of the game's final 10 points.
 
Freshman Andres Frye led the Hornets with 15 points while Zach Garrett added 14 and Karree Smith 10.
 
The Hornets shot 46 percent (26 of 57) from the field and were outrebounded by the Panthers, 41-33.
 
James Smith, Jr. had 15 for the hosts.
