WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University softball team earned its first doubleheader sweep of the 2021 season Sunday by taking a pair from Washington (Md.) College.
Â
Shenandoah (2-2) was a 6-5 winner in the opener before completing the sweep over the Shorewomen (0-2) with an 11-7 game two victory.
GAME ONE
Sophomore

Â
The Hornets needed the two-run sixth after giving up a five-spot (with three unearned) to the Shorewomen in the fifth.
Â
In the sixth, junior

Morgan Henley singled to center to bring Schey home and knot the score at 5-5. Henley also advanced to second on the play as Washington attempted to cut Schey down at the plate.
Â
BayLee Jenkins then laced an RBI single to right center to put the Hornets back up, 6-5.
Â
In the seventh, WC saw its initial hitter reach first on an error, but a fielder's choice followed by a 5-3 double play secured the win for Shenandoah.

Henley, Jenkins and
Tiffany Bower all had two hits with Henley and Jenkins both driving in a pair.
Â
Scalley (1-1) got the win after striking out six and walking two in the complete game showing. Three of the five runs she allowed were unearned.
GAME TWO
