WINCHESTER, Va. – No. 9 Roanoke College registered the first upset of the 2021 ODAC Women's Tennis Tournament with a 5-4 win Wednesday at No. 8 Shenandoah.
 
The Maroons (6-9) took a 2-1 lead after doubles and then held on in singles versus Shenandoah (4-8).

IN BRIEF

The match all came down to No. 3 singles, where Margriet Bostoen gutted out to a 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 victory over Madison Hansen to earn the victory for Roanoke.
 
The Maroons now move on to the ODAC Tournament quarterfinals on Saturday at No. 1 Washington & Lee.
 
Jahveesha Combs, Kelly Hudak, and Caitlin Bennett earned singles victories for Shenandoah.
 
Combs was a 6-1, 6-0 victor at No. 1, Hudak 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4, and Bennett 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6.
 
Hudak and Bennett earned the Hornets first victory of the day with an 8-6 triumph at No. 3 doubles.
