VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Second-seeded Virginia Wesleyan ended Shenandoah University's volleyball season with a 3-1 victory over the Hornets Wednesday afternoon in the ODAC Tournament quarterfinals.
 
Shenandoah (6-6) was a 25-13 victor in the opening set, but saw the Marlins (12-4) win at 14, 11, and 13 in sets two through four to earn the victory.

Virginia Wesleyan moves on to Saturday's semi-final versus the winner of the No. 3 Lynchburg versus No. 6 Randolph-Macon.
 
Seventh-seeded Shenandoah, playing in its first ODAC Tournament since the 2016 season, hit .379 (14-3-29) in winning the opening set of Wednesday's match.
 
The Hornets held VWU to an .028 hitting percentage (9-8-36) in the opener, but unfortunately could not continue that pattern.
 
The Marlins hit .292 over the final three sets (36-10-89) to -.032 for the Hornets (17-20-93) in earning the victory.
 
Kate Poppo led Shenandoah with nine kills and 15 digs with 
Jillian Warter adding eight kills and nine digs.
 
Megan Hillyard had 18 assists and 
Caitlyn Houck 10 to help run the offense.
 
Defensively, 
Brooke Wagner backed up Poppo with 14 digs.

The volleyball team will announce its 2021 schedule later this spring.
