SALEM, Va. – Host Roanoke College used a strong second half Friday afternoon on its way to a 23-16 victory over Shenandoah University in the ODAC women's lacrosse tournament semi-finals.

Third-seeded Shenandoah (7-7) scored five of the game's first six goals and led 10-9 at the break, but No. 2 Roanoke (9-3) answered back to start the second.

The Maroons, the No. 25 team in the nation, scored 10 of the first 11 goals of the second to take a lead they would not relinquish.

Emma Stiffler had the lone run of that run for SU, scoring unassisted at 24:54 to tie the game at 11-11.

Roanoke reeled off the game's next eight goals following Stiffler's tally while holding the Hornets off the board for more than eight minutes and extending the lead out to 19-11.

Reilly Cisar snapped the scoreless drought with an unassisted goal at 16:02.

Unfortunately for the Shenandoah faithful, the two teams would split the game's next eight goals and the Maroons were able to coast home to the victory.

Cisar closed the book on the day's scoring by scoring unassisted with 32 seconds remaining.

Roanoke advances to Sunday's 2 p.m. championship at top-seeded Washington & Lee. The Generals beat the other set of ODAC Hornets, the University of Lynchburg, 18-8, Friday afternoon.

Roanoke outshot SU, 42-25, had a 29-23 advantage in groundballs and won 26 of 41 draw controls.

Stiffler led the Hornets with nine points on six goals and three assists with
Alyson Bittinger adding five goals and one assist and Cisar four goals.

Shannon Eissele had 11 saves in the loss.

This afternoon's game completes the season for the Hornets. An announcement of the All-ODAC selections is expected Wednesday morning.
