Bridgewater Tops Women's Soccer

BC Takes ODAC Quarterfinal, 2-0

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's soccer team saw its spring 2021 season end Tuesday afternoon with a 2-0 loss at Bridgewater College in the ODAC Tournament quarterfinals.

Second-seeded Bridgewater (9-1) scored one goal in each half to eliminate the seventh-seeded Hornets (3-6).

IN BRIEF

Shenandoah had three of excellent scoring chances in the second half. Trailing just 1-0 and awarded a direct kick from 22 yards out, freshman Lexi Cook served in a perfect ball to sophomore Kristen Fisher, who headed the ball past Eagles keeper Sydney Davis.

Unfortunately for the Hornets, Fisher's header glanced off the left post and out.

SU made Davis make a save in the 67th minute (off of a Cook shot) and Abbie Marquette missed just wide from 25 yards out in the 80th minute.

Bridgewater scored its insurance goal with 4:33 remaining.

BC outshot SU, 21-9, and had a 5-3 advantage in corners.

Shenandoah keeper Jordan Haack made six saves.

UP NEXT

Shenandoah opens its traditional 2021 season on Sep. 1 with a non-league home game versus N.C. Wesleyan.
