Field Hockey Shuts Out Seahawks

Morrison Scores twice in the 4-0 win at St. Mary's

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The Shenandoah University Field Hockey team posted a 4-0 shutout in a non-conference contest at St. Mary's College of Maryland on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Hornets (2-1) got on the board with three minutes before halftime and would fend off the Seahawks (2-2) for the remainder of the game. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
27:02 | SU inserted a corner to Kylee Tuebner at the top of the circle, Tuebner drew the defenders out towards her before dishing it off to Kelsey Jones for what proved to be the game-winner.
33:06 | The Seahawks were unable to clear out a saved shot and Cassidy Morrison cleaned up the loose ball in front of the goal. 
36:31 | Jones brought the ball in from the top of the circle and fired a shot past the defense
42:49 | Amanda Hensen drove in a cross from the left side of the goal and Morrison positioned herself to score the final tally of the game. 

MATCH NOTES
  • SU outshot SMCM 13-8. 
  • SU edged SMCM 4-3 in penalty corners
  • Senior goalkeeper Katie Garman made three stops to earn the shut-out victory.
