WINCHESTER, Va. – Visiting Washington & Lee University outlasted Shenandoah University in a 3-1 ODAC volleyball victory over the Hornets Friday night at the James R. Wilkins, Jr. Athletics & Events Center.
Shenandoah (7-8, 3-3 ODAC) was a 25-22 victor in the opening set only to see the Generals (10-8, 7-1) win at 21, 22, and 19 in sets two through four to earn the victory.
IN BRIEF
The match was close throughout with the two teams trading the lead 15 times and being tied on 29 occasions.
The Hornets, who have never beaten W&L in the rally scoring era (since 2001) and are just 3-23 lifetime versus the Generals, led 19-18 in the second and 22-20 in the third only to see the visitors rally in both cases.
In the fourth, Washington & Lee ran its series winning streak to 21 matches with seven straight points that turned a 9-9 tie into a 16-9 W&L lead. Shenandoah got the serve back on a
Cheyenne Price kill but got no closer than four points the rest of the way.

Jillian Warter paced the hosts with 14 kills while
Aaliyah Chunn had 11 and
Regan Minney 10.
Defensively, Shenandoah had 106 digs with Minney, Becka Nguyen,
Emma Thompson,
Kate Poppo, and
Brooke Wagner all registering at least 13. Thompson, the Hornets libero, led this group with 29.
Nguyen had 25 assists and Wagner 19. SU hit .140 (56-29—193) for the match.
