BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The eighth-seeded Shenandoah University women's soccer team has advanced to the 2022 ODAC Tournament semi-finals after tying top-seeded Bridgewater, 1-1, Tuesday afternoon.

Shenandoah (11-6-3) advances past the Eagles (13-4-1) by outscoring BC, 5-4, in the penalty kick shootout.

Kira Ketelhut, who was inserted for the shootout, came up with a diving save on the Eagles Kaia Richardson.

Kristina Skulte then stepped up and slipped her shot past BC keeper Megan Byle for the clinching shot.

Skulte conversion completed a perfect shootout for the Hornets that started with
Chandler Gallant and included
Jordan Haack,
Elizabeth McGee, and
Sarah Crusse.

The shootout advancement happened after Shenandoah played the final two minutes of regulation and all 20 minutes of overtime down a player after a Hornet received her second yellow card of the contest.

Shenandoah fought off three BC shots and two corners in the OT to take its chances with the shootout.

The two teams split 14 shots on goal while Bridgewater had an 8-1 advantage in corners.

The Eagles scored first in regulation, tallying at 43:53, before Shenandoah tied it in the 74
th minute.

McGee got that equalizer, finding herself open just outside the 18-yard box and ripping a right-footed shot past BC keeper Carlee Gaboury.

Karissa Dominick made six saves in the 110 minutes of field play.
