IN BRIEF
A Jason Acosta cross, headed down by
Nathan Yared, found the foot of
Devon Kohout for the game's opening goal. Less than 10 minutes later an unfortunate bounce off of a SVU head led to an own goal gave the Hornets the 2-0 lead.
Kyle Welch delivered a through ball to
Connor Robles for the third goal of the half prior to Brendan Zabava making it 4-0 with 20 minutes to go in the first.
The Hornets made it 5-0 heading into the half thanks to a
Braden Gallant goal on a penalty kick.
Welch and Vavra added to the SU goal total with their second-half tallies.
Maynor Menendez and Acosta each provided assists on the marks.
Shenandoah outshot Southern Virginia 18-2 while the two teams each had a pair of corners.
