Men's Soccer Holds Off Royals Comeback Attempt in Win

Hornets Win, 2-1

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's soccer team defeated Eastern Mennonite University 2-1 Wednesday night in a home ODAC match.

The Hornets (6-4-4, 3-2-3 ODAC) scored twice in the second half as the Royals (7-5-3, 4-2-2) tried crawling back late, but it was two little too late as SU got the victory.

IN BRIEF
Shenandoah controlled the match until the final minutes as they began with eight shots in the first half while holding EMU to just two. Travis Jett made one save in the first half to keep the half scoreless.

The Hornets came out hot in the second as Nathan Yared scored his ninth goal of the season to break the tie. Tarick Kamara easily found Yared in the center of the box for the goal in the 47th minute.

The Shenandoah stayed on the attack for the next portion of the half. In the 64th minute, Aidan Browne connected with Devin Kohout on the left side of the pitch as Kohout then passed the ball into the box to a sliding Xavier Thompson, who just got the ball past the goalie for the goal.

EMU made an effort to come back as they scored in the game's waning moments but there wasn't enough time left to tie it.

SU outshot EMU 17-4 and had the advantage in corners.
