VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The No. 8 Shenandoah University women's soccer team travels to No. 1 Virginia Wesleyan University on Tuesday for the quarterfinals of the 2023 ODAC Women's Soccer Tournament.

The Hornets (8-5-4, 3-4-3 ODAC) make the tournament for the 13th consecutive year and take on the Marlins (13-3-1, 9-0-1) for the second time in the postseason.

SHENANDOAH'S TOP PERFORMERS
Kayla Jenkins leads the teams with six goals on the season. The junior also has two assists helping her earn a team-high 14 points.

Peyton Lubinsky and Kylie Malone are tied for second on the team with nine points. Malone has four goals while Lubinsky has dished out five assists.

The Hornets' back line is powered by Lexi DiSora, Bryanna Marinari, and Kalee Raczkowski. The trio have each played over 1200 minutes for the team this year.

VIRGINIA WESLEYAN TOP PERFORMERS
The Marlins are led by Shyenne Diaz who is fourth in the ODAC in goals with 11. Three players for VWU are tied for second on the team with three goals each.

Alexis Miller has the most assists for the team with four helpers.

Goalie Rachel Quigley has a .534 goals-against average in 17 games which leads the conference. Quigley has started all 17 games for her squad.

WILL HISTORY REPEAT ITSELF?
In 2022 the Hornets, as the eighth seed, upset the top-seeded Bridgewater Eagles in penalty kicks to advance to the semifinals.

In that quarterfinal game, Shenandoah tied up the game in the 74th minute after trailing by one at the half.

2022 was a good year for the Marlins as well as they went on to win the ODAC Championship in penalty kicks and make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.

SERIES HISTORY
Virginia Wesleyan has won all but two meetings between the two squads including a quarterfinals match in 2016, winning 2-1 on a late goal.

The two teams played earlier this season at Virginia Wesleyan in a tightly contested 1-0 win for the Marlins.

Eleven games between the Hornets and Marlins have been decided by just one goal.

The winner of this game advances to the semifinals of the ODAC Semifinals.
