SALEM, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's basketball team fell, 73-57, Sunday afternoon in the 2023 ODAC Championship game to Washington & Lee.
Up six at the half, the Generals (22-6) defense helped push their lead over the Hornets (19-10) to double-digits in the third by holding SU to just two made shots from the field during the quarter.

W&L went down and took it right back before
Madisen Kimble did the same for her squad with a mid-range jumper. Buckets by
Gabby Krystofiak and
Sydney Shepos gave SU its largest lead of the contest, putting them up by five.
The Generals ended the first quarter on a 10-0 run to take the lead back and didn't give it back for the remainder of the contest.
In the second, W&L went up by 10 at one point but the Hornets fought back with big shots from
Terese Greene to cut the deficit to just two points. A made free-throw and a final-second three-pointer from W&L's Hanna Malik put them back up by six at the half.
The two teams each scored 12 points in the second.
After a Krystofiak '3' for SU, the Generals went on an 18-0 run in the third, over a six-minute span, and eventually expand the lead out to a game-high 28.
Shenandoah's offense outscored the eventual winners by eight in the fourth quarter but the big third quarter helped W&L secure the championship.
Shenandoah's leading scorer was Greene with 16, Kimble with 14, and Krystofiak with 12. The ODAC Rookie of the Year, Mary Schleusner, scored a game-high 30 points and 19 rebounds for W&L.
Campbell led SU with 14 rebounds and two blocks.
Kimble and Greene were named to the ODAC All-Tournament team.

The Hornets, who are returning the whole team, will announce their 2023-2024 schedule later this summer.
