Box Score DANVILLE, Va – The Shenandoah University women's soccer got back to their winning ways, picking up a conference win against Averett College Friday night, on a game that was originally scheduled for Saturday.  The Hornets (6-2-2, 1-1-1) defeated the host Cougars (4-4-2, 1-1) 4-0 behind the hat trick of Kayla Jenkins.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Shenandoah dominated possession and outshot the Cougars 18-4.
The Hornets pressured the Cougars from the start firing 10 shots on goal, compared to only one from Averett.
Kayla Jenkins scored three goals on the evening, giving her a team-high four goals on the season.  Jenkins would then pick up an assist on Chandler Gallant's first goal of the season.
Kasie Kilmer picked up her first win of the season, making her second start, and her first clean sheet.

HOW IT HAPPENED

It was all Shenandoah from the start, as the Hornets started to apply pressure firing shots toward the Cougar netminder within the first 10 minutes.  Then in the 17th minute, Jenkins would find the back of the net for her second goal of the season.  Although the Hornets would threaten for the rest of the first half, Shenandoah was not able to score again in the period.  The Hornets would enter the break with a 1-0 lead.

In the second half, it took less than a minute for Jenkins to find the back of the net for the second time.  Just over two minutes later in the 49th minute, Gallant would connect on a ball from Jenkins comfortably putting the Hornets up 3-0.  Just when you thought the scoring was done, Jenkins would score again in the 50th minute for her third of the game, sealing the Hornet victory 4-0.

Kilmer and the back line did a fantastic job only allowing four total shots, with one of those shots being on goal, and Kilmer was able to come up with the save.

WHAT IS NEXT?

The Hornets will continue conference play, as they return home Wednesday afternoon with a matchup with Roanoke.  Kick-off for the game is slated to start at 6 p.m.
