With Shenandoah down by four halfway through the middle set, Warter went on the attack once again, getting five kills in Shenandoah's final 12 points helping the home team get one set away from winning the match.

Roanoke jumped out early in the fourth with hopes of tying the match at two as they once again took a 6-3 lead, they'd later push it to a 9-4 advantage. Shenandoah rallied for five straight points to tie the set with help from two straight service aces by Warter at the end of the run.

Three consecutive errors by the Maroons gave Shenandoah its first lead of the fourth set at 12-10. The teams traded points for the middle portion of the set forcing a 17-17 tie. At that point Roanoke took full control and scored eight of the final nine points, taking the set 25-18 and forcing a decisive fifth set.

Coming out of the timeout Shenandoah held onto the lead until a kill by Roanoke gave them a 11-10 lead. The very next rally ended in a Maroon error tying things back up for the final time. Roanoke ended the set and match on a 4-1 run after the error.
