FOREST, Va. - The Shenandoah University football team is set to play Wilkes University in the Cape Henry Bowl, as a part of the Chesapeake Challenge, at home on Saturday, as announced by the ODAC and Landmark conferences on Sunday. The Hornets earned the ODAC's two-seed following a 17-14 win over Washington and Lee on Saturday. The Colonels are the three seed in the Landmark after a 38-0 win over Western Connecticut State in the regular season finale.

Additionally, the Hornets earned two ODAC Player of the Week awards on Sunday, as announced by the ODAC. Senior linebacker Matt Conroy was named player of the week on the defensive side of the ball, while Carson Gallant was the honoree for special teams.

CHESAPEAKE CHALLENGE

This is the second straight year the Hornets have earned a spot in the Chesapeake Challenge, after playing Moravian University last year in Salem, Virginia. The Colonels have made an appearance in the challenge in all three years of the partnership between the Landmark and ODAC.

This year's game will be played at Shentel Stadium this Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 4 p.m. More information regarding the game will be released throughout the week. Stay tuned to suhornets.com and odaconline.com for more information regarding the bowl game, including ticket information.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Conroy earned his first conference weekly award of the season and the fourth of his career following a 13-tackle and one pass breakup performance on Saturday. The linebacker had six solo tackles and seven assists.

The biggest play of the day for the senior came on a 3rd-and-15 for the Generals in the third quarter. Conroy broke up a pass that resulted in a Generals punt and nearly caused an interception.

For Gallant, this is his first career award. The sophomore made two extra-point attempts and then hit the game-winning field goal with under two minutes left, from 31 yards out. The kicker is 7-9 on field goal attempts this season, with a season-long 33-yard field goal.

Gallant also added two kickoffs for 104 total yards in the win over the Generals.
