FOREST, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's soccer and women's tennis teams each earned an ODAC Athlete of the Week award on Monday, as announced by the league office.
McKenna Newcome earned her second player of the week nod for the season for women's soccer, while Atlee Hilliard earned her second award for the season for women's tennis.
Newcome led the Hornets to a 7-1 win at Averett University last Wednesday in the team's regular season finale, scoring a goal and adding an assist. The win helped the Hornets clinch the three-seed in the ODAC Tournament, and defeated Roanoke, 2-1, in the quarterfinals with Newcome scoring the first goal of the contest.
Hillard went 2-0 in singles action this weekend at the WildCat Invitational at Randolph College. Hilliard dominated her pair of matches, beating Cohen (Pfeiffer), 6-1, 6-0, and Spangler (Pfeiffer), 6-1, 6-1.
Women's soccer is in action on Wednesday at Virginia Wesleyan University for the ODAC Semifinals. Women's tennis concluded its fall season and picks back up in the spring on February 13 at Washington and Lee.
