FOREST, Va. - Shenandoah University Football Safety Jaren Mitchell has been named this week's ODAC Football Defensive Athlete of the Week, his second consecutive award.

Mitchell anchored a defense that allowed 0 points for the first time since 2022, and became the first defense in the ODAC this season to not allow a point in ODAC play.

The sophomore safety led the Hornets defensively with 12 total tackles and an interception. He would pick up his league-leading fifth interception of the season and returned the ball back to Bridgewater's 42-yard line. The Hornets' offense would score four plays later to secure the 17-0 victory.

Mitchell's ten solo tackles at Bridgewater are a career high, besting his seven solo tackles earlier this season against Geneva (PA).

He and the rest of the Hornets defense will look to continue their momentum into next week as they host Randolph-Macon at home on Halloween. Kickoff slated for 1pm.
