Men's Cross Country Wins 8k at Hornet Harrier

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's and women's cross country teams hosted the Hornet Harrier on Saturday morning at Kernstown Battlefield, with the men's team winning its race and the women placing second.

MEN'S RECAP

With a scoring order of 3-5-8-10-11(13)(16), the Hornets won the 8k with 37 team points, topping Dickinson, Frostburg State, and Potomac State.

Caleb Beiswenger was the Hornets' top finisher, placing third with a time of 27:16.5. Kyle Corpin closed out the top five of the race at 27:32.8. Brayden Shotwell was eighth in the race, crossing the line at 27:40.0

Will Ashley and Brenden Maloy crossed the line right next to each other. Ashley placed 10th at 27:46.7, and Maloy came in at 27:47.3 for 11th. Zack Hamacher came in 13th at 28:07.5, and Chase Busold was the final runner in SU's scoring order, placing 17th at 28:44.9.

Ethan Beaugez (19th/28:56.9), Sebastian Berrios (24th/29:24.4), and Isaac Clarke (26th/29:38.8) were the final three SU men to finish.

WOMEN'S RECAP

The SU women finished their 6k race in second, with 51 team points and a scoring order of 2-9-12-13-15(16)(19).

Maddy Chorney placed second in the race at 24:31.3, which was a 19.1-second gap between her and third place.

Kailey Lamont placed 12th with a time of 25:40.8, while first-year Ashley Gambill came in at 26:08.0 for 15th. Grace Semow wrapped up just behind Gambill, with a 16th-place finish at 26:15.6.

Emilie Gaudron and Arianna Hensley were the next two Hornets to finish the race, ending with times of 26:18.5 and 26:23.4, respectively. Emily Bultema rounded out SU's top-seven runners with her finishing time of 26:30.5.

The final SU runners were Katelyn Palmer (24th/26:31.8), Mary Waite (36th/28:27.6), and Arial Crawford (37th/28:37.4).
