Men's Soccer Ties Scarlet Raiders

NEWARK, N.J. - The Shenandoah University men's soccer team tied Rutgers-Newark 2-2 on Saturday afternoon on the road in non-conference play.

The Hornets (1-2-3) were up 2-1 in the final 10 minutes of the game, and the Scarlet Raiders (3-0-3) were able to tie up the contest.

RECAP

Aidan King-Miller made two first-half saves, which allowed Luke Shearer to score and put SU up 1-0 off an assist from Eleazar Albe. The Hornets' goal came in the 35th minute, and it only took four minutes for the Scarlet Raiders to respond and tie the game at one.

Early in the second half, King-Miller was forced to make three more saves, as he helped keep the game even. The tie was broken in the 73rd minute as Shearer connected with Maclain Szulborski for SU's second goal of the game.

Roughly ten minutes later, the Scarlet Raiders found the equalizer and tied the game at two, which would stand as the final score.

King-Miller ended the match with five saves. Gabe Wahdan had the only other shot on goal for SU, outside of the two goals.

UP NEXT

The Hornets are home this Wednesday at 4 p.m. versus Marymount. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday.
