SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shenandoah University Cross Country teams completed their second of two races this opening week of the season at the 16th Annual Shippensburg University Galen Piper Cross Country Challenge. Competing against teams representing multiple collegiate divisions, both the Hornet Men and Women took seventh place in their respective races.
Men's 6k Race
Brayden Shotwell led the SU men in his first race of the season, as he finished 33rd overall with a time of 20:35.8.
Kyle Corpin came in as the next team scorer in 40th place overall with a time of 20:54.1. Zachary Hamacher,
Caleb Beiswenger, and William Ashley kept a solid grouping to round out the top five for SU. Hamacher and Beiswenger crossed the finish line at 21:03.6 and 21:03.7, respectively, while Ashley was just a couple of seconds behind at 21:05.6.

Women's 4k Race
Madison Chorney paced the SU women, improving on her time from Bridgewater, crossing with a time of 16:46.8.
Kailey Lamont would come across next with a time of 16:59.4.
Ashley Gambill continues to shine in her first career races, as she scores again for the Hornets, crossing at 17:41.5.
Grace Semow and
Katelyn Palmer would both cross just seconds later, with Semow coming home at 17:44.6 and Palmer at 17:48.0.

UP NEXT
The Hornets return to Kernstown Battlefield for their first of three meets on their home course. The SU Twilight Invitational is set for a 6 pm start on Friday, September 11th.
