Kalvin Oliver, who was part of the inaugural team at Shenandoah in 2000, continues in his role as the longest tenured member of the football staff.

In June, 2022, after 10 years as full-time assistant coach, Oliver took on the role of defensive coordinator. He coordinates a unit that helped Shenandoah to an ODAC-era best seven wins in 2021 and held opponents two opponents: DII Emory & Henry and 2021 ODAC champion Washington & Lee, to seven points or less in a pair of SU wins.

The Hornets defensive line coach during his entire tenure on staff, Oliver transitioned from a part-time role to a full-time spot in June, 2012 and was promoted in August 2017 to run game coordinator under former defensive coordinator Brock McCullough.

He added that role in addition to his responsibility as the special teams coordinator.

During his full-time tenure, Oliver mentored 29 players on the defensive front seven or special teams that have earned All-ODAC accolades. Six of those players, led by 2015 Lou Wacker Defensive Player of Year Jake Payne, were named first team All-ODAC.

As an undergraduate, Oliver was one of 13 players that came to SU to help start the program in 2000 and stayed all four years. During his playing career, he played in all 39 games and is second all-time in sacks with 11.

Oliver and his wife, Stephanie, are the parents of a son, Kaeden.
