Heading up the Hornets offense is veteran high school and college coach Stan Hodgin.

Hodgin came to Shenandoah in 2013 after two seasons as the offensive coordinator at now-former ODAC member Emory & Henry.

In June, 2022, Hodgin was promoted to associate head coach. He retains his offensive coordinator responsibilities in this new position.

In 2012, Hodgin's offense averaged a second-best-in-the-league 264.3 yards passing and three players earned All-ODAC honors.

Prior to his experience with the Wasps, Hodgin was the quarterbacks coach at Averett University in 2010 and a high school head coach, offensive coordinator, and quarterbacks coach for 20 years.

In addition to leading offenses that have averaged over 380 yards and 31 points per game, Hodgin has coached five players that eventually played professional football and every quarterback he tutored in high school and college has advanced to play at the next level.

With the Hornets, Hodgin has run an offense that has set every significant passing record and saw quarterback Hayden Bauserman '18 honored as the 2018 Lanier Award winner as the best DII/DIII/NAIA player in the commonwealth of Virginia. Bauserman was also a finalist for the Gagliardi Award.

In 2021, first-year Steven Hugney threw for nearly 1700 yards and was named as the ODAC Rookie of the Year.

In his time coordinating the SU offense, 29 players on that side of the ball have earned All-ODAC accolades with 10 of those being first team picks. Additionally, Hayden Bauserman '18 and Casey Stewart '19 have both been finalists for the Touchdown Club of Richmond Player of the Year honors. Bauserman earned that accolade in 2018.

In 2020, Hodgin was selected for a four-year term on the NCAA football rules committee. He is one of three Division III members on the committee and the only assistant coach.

Hodgin and his wife, Laurie, are the parents of four children: Ashley, Zoe, Casey, and Delaney.
