Scott Musa was a member of the SU athletics department from August, 1992 through June, 2023. This bio now exists as a historical reference.

Scott Musa is in his 31st year at Shenandoah and his 29th as the Hornets primary media contact.

A 1992 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Musa came to SU to be an assistant men's lacrosse coach. After two years of coaching, former AD Dave Dutton named Musa the department's first full-time SID.

In 1999, he was promoted to assistant athletic director and to associate athletic director in 2019.

In this role, Musa is in charge of publicity for all of the Hornets 22 intercollegiate teams and the athletic web site. He also has supervisory responsibility over 11 of the department's intercollegiate athletic programs.

He is a member of both the College Sports Communicators (CSC) and the Virginia State Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID) and served as president of the latter organization from 2007-2011.

In August, 2019, Musa was elected as the second vice president of the Division III Sports Information Directors Association. He was the D3SIDA President for the 2021-22 academic year.

In the fall of 2008 through the summer of 2012, Musa took on the additional role of serving as the media relations contact for the Valley Baseball League. The Valley is a 12-team summer baseball league located within the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia playing under NCAA rules and funded in part by Major League Baseball. In July, 2021, Musa was inducted as part of the Valley Baseball League's Hall of Fame Class of 2021.

With CSC (formerly CoSIDA), Musa serves on the Academic All-America committee and is a former member of the the Site Selection committee. He is the past chair of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Sports Information Directors committee after serving for four years as the USA South Conference Sports Information Directors committee chairman. 

As Assistant and Associate AD, Musa has served on three NCAA committees: the Division III Women's Lacrosse Committee, the women's lacrosse rules committee, and the Playing Rules Oversight Panel (PROP). His current service on PROP runs through August, 2024. In January, 2023, Musa was appointed to the NCAA Division III Playing Rules Advisory Panel.

He ended his term on the DIII Women's Lacrosse Championships committee as chair, and was honored by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) with its President's Cup award for its distinguished contribution to the sport of women's lacrosse for his work on the rules committee.

On campus, Musa serves on the Student Retention and Programs Council and the Communications/Marketing Steering Committee.

Musa has been honored by the university three times for staff excellence. In 1999, he won the Wilkins Award while in 2002 he was one of three staff members to be recognized with a special award by the chairman of the Board of Trustees. In 2018, he was one of the first two recipients of the Wilkins Award 2.0. This award recognizes staff members that have previously earned the Wilkins Award.

In November, 2014, Musa was selected as an honorary member of the Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership honor society. 

His primary sport responsibility within communications includes baseball, men's basketball, football, men's and women's golf, softball, men's and women's tennis and volleyball.

Musa has been married to his wife, CK Calhoun, since May, 2017. The couple reside in Frederick County with their son, Carter.
