Sydney Anderson '13 served as the assistant athletic communications director from July 2018 through July 2022. This bio now exists as a historical reference.
Former women's lacrosse standout Sydney Anderson '13 is in her seventh year as an assistant director of athletic communications. In the summer of 2018, Anderson was promoted into a full-time role as assistant athletic communications director.
Anderson, who starred for the women's lacrosse team from 2010-13, assists with game operations for all 22Â of the Hornets intercollegiate athletic programs.Â
She is the primary statistician for both the men's and women's lacrosse teams as well as men's and women's soccer and men's and women's basketball.
As the sole captain in 2013, Anderson led the women's lacrosse squad to 12 wins including its first-ever victories over Mary Washington, Lynchburg, Roanoke and Washington and Lee.
The 10-9 win over UMW in the season opener was also the team's first over a ranked opponent.
Anderson earned one All-League honor during her career, played in a third-best-in-school-history 63 games and had an even 100 points on 57 goals and 43 assists during that span.
Anderson capped her career by being named as the female Athletic Director's Award winner in 2013. This award, the highest award given to a student-athlete at Shenandoah, encompasses athletics, academics and community service.
As the full-time assistant communications director, Anderson has primary sport responsibility over the women's basketball, cross country, field hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer and men's and women's indoor and outdoor track & field programs.
She also has served as a member of the Hornets RED team on racial equality and diversity.
In May, 2021, Anderson was one of four people across campus honored with a Wilkins Award for her work above and beyond in the department's return to play in the spring, 2021 semester.
Anderson, an Aurora, Colorado native, served on the official stats crew of the 2019, 2021, and 2022 NCAA Division III women’s lacrosse championships and a part of the game operations crew for the 2022 NCAA Softball Championships hosted by the city of Salem, Virginia, and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
She also has NCAA tournament championships experience with women’s basketball and baseball, including hosting the 2022 NCAA DIII Winchester Regional Baseball Championships at Shenandoah University.Â
