Longtime Winchester resident Jerry Wampler joined the Shenandoah University volleyball staff in August, 2021.
Wampler, a USA Volleyball certified coach, comes to SU after serving as a club volleyball coach since 2008.
Wampler’s club experience started with the Apple Valley Volleyball Club 17’s team in 2008 and he added a vice president’s role within the club in 2010. He served in this latter role through 2020.
Most recently, he was the head coach of the Vienna Elite West Volleyball Club 17’s team in 2020-21.
In addition to his volleyball coaching, Wampler is a professional teaching instructor in both golf and tennis. From 1982 through 1998, he was the head tennis professional at Stonebrook Swim and Racquet Club before becoming the head golf professional at Winchester’s Rock Harbor Golf Club. He served in this role until 2017.
Wampler maintains his professional licensure from both the US Professional Tennis Association and the Professional Golfers Association.
With the Hornets, he will be involved in all aspects of the program including practice and game management, recruiting, and player development.
