HARRISONBURG, Va. – The SU women were not as successful in their tilt with EMU; the Lady Royals used a 44 point second half to pull away and take a 78-52 victory.
EMU (3-0) held a 34-29 lead at the half and sealed the win on the strength of an 11-1 run to start the second half. This run proved to be the Hornets undoing as Eastern Mennonite continued to extend the lead for the rest of the half and eventually took the 26-point win.
Freshman Dee Fisher (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) led SU (1-2) with 16 points and 10 rebounds while junior Shannda Gaskins (Falls Church, Va./McLean) added 10 points and a game high 12 boards.
Emily Mullet led the Lady Royals with 16 points.
