WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is inducting six individuals and one team into its Hall of Fame Class of 2026, with today's spotlight focusing on Women's Basketball legend Karen Eggleton.

Eggleton was a top prospect recruited into the program's second season of varsity play in 1978. A 5-9 forward from Jefferson County High School, Eggleton was highly touted as a double figure scorer coming into Shenandoah off of a 17-2 high school senior season.

In two of her first career games entering the line up as a first year, Eggleton produced games with 25 points and 23 points with 17 rebounds.

Eggleton would become the second woman to score 1,000 career points in Shenandoah Women's Basketball history on January 31, 1982 in a match against Mt. Vernon where she scored 21 points and added 16 rebounds.

During her senior season, she averaged a double double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while playing alongside a future Shenandoah Women's Basketball legend, Laura Johnson.

Karen Eggleton and the rest of the inductees will be enshrined in the hall of fame on October 17, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. in the James R. Wilkins, Jr. Athletics & Events Center.
