Men's Hoops Beats Frostburg

WINCHESTER, Va. – The men's basketball team found itself down three points at halftime, but torched the nets for 48 points in the second half of play to take a 76-59 non-conference victory over longtime rival Frostburg State University Friday evening. 

Shenandoah (5-1) trailed 31-28 at the break due to an abysmal 12 for 34 (35.3 percent) shooting performance and nine turnovers, but came back to shoot 16 for 28 (57.1 percent) in the final 20 minutes to help spur the 17 point victory.

SU also stepped up its rebounding following the intermission; the Hornets 21-13 second half rebounding average included 15 to 5 bulge on Frostburg's offensive end. Senior Michael Atkins (Winchester, Va./Sherando) keyed this effort with a season high 13 boards while Halston Camp (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) added 10. 

Senior Tyson Thompson (Keysville, Va./Randolph Henry) once again was the story offensively; he led his team for the fifth time in six games with game high 19. Camp had 12 and sophomore Jared Hale (Centreville, Va./Lynchburg) a career high 12 off the bench. 

Pierre Bowery led Frostburg (1-4) with 17 points while Kamillo Rosenthal added 16.
