Volleyball Drops a Pair

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Shenandoah University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday afternoon in nonconference play. First the Hornets dropped a 3-0 decision to Mary Washington College and followed that with another 3-0 defeat at the hands of Lynchburg College.

SU dropped to 7-16 on the year following the losses while Mary Washington and Lynchburg both improved to 13-8 for the season.

Sophomore Jenny Gray (Sumerduck, Va./Liberty) led SU with 21 kills and 30 digs between the two matches including a team high 11 and 20, respectively, against Lynchburg.

Setting up Gray and the rest of the Hornets' offense was senior Lesley Beard (Youngstown, Ohio/Austintown Finch) who recorded a team high 25 assists against Mary Washington and nearly equalled the feat with 24 more in the Lynchburg match.
