WINCHESTER, Va. - The SU women's basketball team won its second straight game in the past 24 hours Sunday afternoon with a 63-35 trouncing of Washington & Lee University.
SU (10-8) took a 27-15 by the halftime intermission and then cruised to the win in its final non-league home game of the season.Â
The Hornets started the game on an 11-0 run and only allowed W&L; (3-16) to cut the deficit to single digits on one occasion for the rest of the contest.Â
After the Lady Generals got to within eight with 15:22 to play, Coach Kathy Orsini's squad went on another 11-0 run over the next 3:32 to erase any thoughts of a comeback by the visitors.
Sophomore Jenny Gray (Sumerduck, Va./Liberty) led with a game high 14 while freshman Dee Fisher (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) continued her strong play with 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.
The win also gives the Hornets double digit victories for the first time since the 2000 team won 18 games and made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Emily Barker had 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead W&L.;Â
