MURFREESBORO, N.C. - Chowan College shot a stellar 58.8 percent from the field in the second half to secure an 89-69 non-conference women's basketball victory over visiting Shenandoah University Sunday afternoon.
Chowan (11-2) led 36-30 at the break but made 20 of its 34 second half attempts from the field and pulled away from Shenandoah (2-9).
The Hornets closed the first with a 4-0 run and then cut the deficit to just five at 38-33 on a Netagia Foreman (Winchester, Va./Sherando) three-pointer 27 seconds into the second, but could get no closer.
The Lady Braves pushed their lead to 10 by the 17:34 mark and a 15-2 run from 12:41 to 9:26 marks of the second erased any opportunities for an SU comeback.
Sophomore Alicia Sanders (Wardensville, W. Va./East Hardy) led the visitors with 24 points and 11 rebounds while Joia Davis (Trenton, N.J./Stuart County) had 16 points, Cassie Womack (Alexandria, Va./Hayfield) 14 and Foreman 10. Womack also had eight rebounds.
Christina Addison led four CC players in double figures with 31 points.
