WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University advanced to the its second tournament final in the 2006-07 season with a 71-51 victory over Meredith College Saturday in the Shenandoah Shootout Classic.
The Hornets (4-1) victory makes Sunday's game against Rochester Institute of Technology a championship contest in the three team tourney. RIT defeated Meredith (0-6) 70-47 in Friday's opening contest.
Shenandoah looked to make quick work of the Angels as it took scored 24 of the game's first 30 points.
However, Meredith had other ideas. After SU took that 24-6 lead by the 12:27 mark, MC rallied to trail just 30-24 after Nicole Hall hit a three-pointer with 2:21 remaining in the first. Shenandoah answered this 18-6 run with the final four points of the half, but the Angels had gotten themselves back in it.

Michelle Guyant-Holloway's club got its advantage back into double digits by the 16:26 mark, and kept it there for all but one possession the rest of the way.
The lead reached 21 with 11:20 to play, and all that remained was to see if seniorÂ
Cassie Womack would be able to break the school record for rebounds in a game. Womack had seven boards at halftime and 19 with just over six minutes to play, finished with a career-high 22 to miss tying the school record by three. Guyant-Holloway took her out with just over one minute left.
